Finn Harps School Programme
A group of 23 enthusiastic footballers travelled to the grounds of Bonagee in Letterkenny on Thursday 19th October to play in the Finn Harps School Programme. A wet day didn’t dampen their enthusiasm.
Our boys team had 2 soccer matches. The first match against lurgybrack was close but a strong performance gave us a win. The second match against the gaelscoil started very well with an early goal. A draw would have brought us to a penalty shoot out but 2 late goals resulted in a loss. The gaelscoil went on to win the final so our boys were only beaten by the overall winners. All boys played extremely well and represented our school really well.
Our girls had a slower start with a loss in their first soccer game against lurgybrack. But they went from strength to strength with a win over the gaelscoil and a penalty shoot out to take us to the final. We played Glenswilly in the final and scored a goal within 30 seconds. It was a very close match and Glenswilly scored an equaliser. It was down to another penalty shoot out. With great support and tips from the boys team the girls took their penalties really well and were outright winners.
We had a great day out. Mrs O’Donnell and Belinda were delighted with all the children. They played their hearts out and behaved so well.
