MacCumhaills Senior Hurling Team Visit
by Mrs Dorrian's 4th Class.
The children were delighted to welcome some special guests to the school this week. On Wednesday morning members of the MacCumhaill's Senior Hurling Team along with their Physio Kevin Gallagher arrived at the school with the cup which they won when they were crowned County Champions.
The hurlers were greeted with a guard of honour made by the sixth class students. They received a warm welcome from all classes and were very impressed with all the decorations made by the children to welcome them to St.Mary's.
They gave many interesting answers to the questions posed by the children. Many of the children showed their support by wearing MacCumhaills jerseys and hats and waving their green and white flags.
All of the visitors were past pupils of St.Mary's and in fact some are now parents of present pupils.
This is only their second time winning the county title. They defeated Burt in doing so with a score of 2-13 to 2-09.
Everybody in St.Mary's would like to wish them well in the Ulster quarter final which takes place this Sunday in Derry.
Thank you to Justin McGhee, Paddy Hannigan, Lee Henderson, Anthony Patton, Jamsie Donnelly and Kevin Gallagher for giving up their time to join us in the school.
