Tir Na nOg Under 8 Football Tournament

Sean MacCumhaills U8 footballers were invited to a prestigious annual U8 tournament. Twenty-two of the top clubs across Ulster and some from further afield gathered in the picturesque village of Moy on the border of counties Tyrone and Armagh.

Clubs were divided into 4 groups. MacCumhaills were drawn in a very tough group with Clan Eireann, Co.Armagh, Kilmacud Crokes, Co.Dublin, Donaghmore and Kileshil from Co.Tyrone.

MacCumhaills played some great football that saw them through to knock out stages of the Plate Competition where they received a bye in the quarter-finals. Carryduff from Co.Down, previous tournament winners in 2010 and conquerors of Ardara in the quarter-finals, posed stiff oppoistion in the semi-final but MacCumhaills prevailed with a four point margin.

Pearse Og's from Armagh City awaited in the final and following a tense opening MacCumhaills pulled away to win the match by six points.

St.Mary's N.S. Stranorlar was represented on the team by Fionn McNulty, Sean Sweeney and Cathal Cannon and by all accounts the future of Gaelic football in the Twin Towns is in safe hands.
