All six of us boys in Ms. Mc Nulty’s class got chosen by Ms. Mc Geehan to represent our class and school, in the Young Entrepreneurs Competition in the Finn Valley College.  On Wednesday the 8th February 2017.  There was a lot of preparation and discussion in the back ground.  Our product was an Eco Friendly pesticide we call the “Bug Blaster”.  Our company was called “The Men In Black”.

It was windy on the 8th February 2017, nerves were kicking in. The bus arrived to pick us up.  The Finn Valley College hall was set up very nicely and very formally.  We got our table and chairs.  Then Mr Mc Daid a P.E. teacher done a few ice breakers with us to get us warmed up.  We got our snack after the ice breakers.

Our mentor, Conor Malone, came over to talk about the Bug Blaster.  Then it was time for the first team to introduce their product to a panel of judges including RTE presenter Duncan Stewart.  We were up after a few of the team’s presentations. We had a fantastic presentation but the questions were the things that tested us.  The judges headed off to pick the top three prototypes.  We got our lunch and waited patiently for the results.

The judges came back to announce the winners.  In third place was Sessiaghoneill  N.S, second place was Castlefin N.S and first place was Gleneely  N.S.

We would like to congratulate the winners, and we would like to thank our teachers for working with us.  It was a great experience and we would definitely do it again.  A big thank you to Ms. Mc Geehan and Finn Valley College for giving us this great opportunity.

On the 8th of February, we participated in the Young Enterprise competiotion in the Finn Valley College. Firstly we departed on the bus at 9.45am, and when we arrived we set up our table. Afterwards, we played games with the rest of the participants. We had a snack and then we began the presentations. We were happy with our performance even though we did not make the top three.

Our idea was about safety swimming togs. We called them 'PECUR lifetogs'. The waistband of the togs could inflate by pulling the pink strip on the band of the togs. The idea involved recycling plastic and turning it into polyester.

Our class supported us along the way, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. our team were Patrick, Eddie, Cathal, Ultán and Riáin, that's how we came up with the name PECUR.
