Healthy Lunch Options
A healthy packed lunch should contain bread or an alternative, a savoury filling which provides protein, a suitable drink e.g. water or fruit juice, and some fruit and / or vegetables. Lunch is an important meal for school going children. It should provide one third of their recommended daily allowance of nutrients without being high in fat, sugar or salt. It should provide dietary fibre (roughage). Class teachers would like to remind you that the following items should not be given to the children for lunch :
Cereal Bars
Sweet Biscuits
Fruit Winders
Pop Tarts
Crisps
Brioche Bread with chocolate chips
Frubes
Yop and Yoghurt Drinks
Fizzy Drinks (including Lucozade Sport)
Please remember that children can bring a treat each Friday !! (no large bars allowed !!)
