Sam's Visit

21/01/2013 20:36

We were honoured to welcome Martin O'Reilly, Sam Maguire, the Anglo Celt and representatives from MacCumhaill's GAA club to our school today.  Martin spent time talking to the children about his experiences with the All Ireland winning Donegal team, answering their questions and posing for pictures with both students and staff.  Martin highlighted that the best way to learn and improve both at school and in sport was by paying attention to what  teachers and coaches have to say.

Mr. Keating presented Martin with a framed photo of the St. Mary's gaelic football team, of which Martin was an integral part, that won the Cumann na mBunscol County Final in 2004.

Mr. Keating thanked Martin and the MacCumhaill's representatives for bringing the trophies to the school.  He also extended his appreciation to the MacCumhaill's club for their assistance throughout the year by the provision of facilities and coaching expertise.  Martin presented Mrs. Dorrian with a memento of a signed football to mark the occassion.

Mickey McMahon, MacCumhaill's Secretary, thanked the school for the warm welcome they received both today and always.  He congratulated Martin on his achievements and on being a perfect role model for the youth of the area.

As long as you are connected with the school you may order a copy of any of the above photographs by e-mailing scoil_mhuire@yahoo.com Thank you.
